Ground Up Studios 1 Hour Art Battle Session

Here's another round of a Ground Up Studios Art battle.

So without further delay, we got Henry and Brian in the latest 1 hour art battle. To view Tate's original character click here.

The topic of this battle session was State's african warrior.

On the left is Henry's version. On the right in Brian's version.

1 hour art battle?! What other better way to test your artist mold than the pressure of a 1 hour battle! Now you may not think there is no big deal with completing an art illustration in a mere hour, but that's far from the truth! From coming up with the concept of the piece, to illustrating it out, digitizing it and making sure it's colored and finished. It can get insane!

So without further delay, we got State and Jae in a Ground Up Studios battle session. Here's the battle talk leading up the final results:

[The conversation is via Gmail Chat, so please excuse the abbreviated speech. It starts right in the midst of a work flow between the two guys]

J: I think my idea would best do that. Hour time limit
State: K
J: We'll set the starting time and ending time. Have the alarm go off at the end of the hour. Now everything must be done in the hour
2:30 PM State: K
J: Let's try doing the same character
State: ok who
2:31 PM J: I'm going to call henry and have him decide. That way no one will have a distinct advantage
State: alright
[INSERTED: Topic was studio mate's "Yani" character. SEE HERE]
2:45 PM J: okay my clock says 2:42 right now. @ 2:45 we will begin
2:47 PM J: 2:44 start NOW
32 minutes pass
3:20 PM J: TIME is half way there
State: K
3:47 PM J: TIME!. Start sending your file
State: give me sec to export
3:50 PM J: State Time' sup.
3:51 PM State: it should be in there. do you see it?
J: Yeah. Man this hour was def one of the hardest
3:52 PM State: nice, Im feeling yours
J: I hate it personally
State: all that under an hour
3:53 PM State: ill have to say pretty good
J: I LOST my photoshop brush! I spent like 5 minutes trying to find that. Some anatomy issues I didn't notice when I did the illustration. Geez.
3:55 PM J: How was the process for you during that hour
3:56 PM State: Intense but relaxing. I had my Bebop music on
3:57 PM J: Oh. Did you like the 1 hour battle session
3:58 PM State: I think it should be longer
J: LMAO
State: at least an hour & half

After the battle words:
There was no preconcieved color scheme for this character. Some how both Jae and State were on the same thinking on the color layout for Yani.
